(5 November 2019, Hong Kong)   Head of Public Policy Institute Stephen Wong and Head of Land and Housing Research Ryan Ip presented Our Hong Kong Foundation’s “Vision of Universal Affordable Housing in Hong Kong” report to finance and real estate professionals, institutional investors and asset managers at HSBC headquarters on 5th November 2019.

The pair shared land and housing policy insights following Chief Executive Carrie Lam Yuet-ngor’s 2019 Policy Address, with Wong and Ip detailing how universal affordable homeownership will reshape Hong Kong’s broader housing market.

Our Hong Kong Foundation’s “Vision of Universal Affordable Housing in Hong Kong” is a ten-point policy roadmap for achieving homeownership across all sectors of society.  The proposals, which include a reboot of the Tenants Purchase Scheme (TPS 2.0), drew strong interest from attendees for its potential to narrow a yawning wealth gap while widening investment opportunities among other positive societal impacts.
